Sweet Stampede Blog Hop ~ CARD SKETCH

Hello February!!!

Welcome to our monthly inspiration, Sweet Stampede team Blog Hop.
This is where each month a few of my stampin' friends and I, collaborate on a predetermined creative 'theme' and each of us creates a project following that 'theme'. We then share our creations collectively here on our monthly 'Sweet Stampede Blog Hop'.

This month we are sharing cards our utilizing a 'Card Sketch'

I'm not sure about you, but I love a good card sketch!
For me, I feel like it helps to eliminate my 'overthinking' of the actual design process and
allows me to skip right to the enjoyment of choosing all the pretty pieces and
begin assembling my card right away!

Here's our 'card sketch'.....

If you've never utilized a card sketch before, I highly recommend giving this sketch a try.

'oh, happy day!' The perfect greeting to accompany the bright and cheerfully fun, Toadstool Garden Designer Series Paper (#164942). *FREE with purchase during Sale-a-bration (January 7 through February 28, 2025)

I started with a 4 1/4" x 11" Granny Apple Green cardstock base. Also using Granny Apple Green cardstock, I added a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" layer, that I dry embossed with the Birch Wood 3D embossing folder (#164069) just for added interest. The Perennial Postage Dies (#162607) were my choice to cut the two pieces of designer series paper. More specifically I used the third largest rectangle & the larger square from that set of dies, to simulate what's shown on the card sketch.
To add a bit of bling, I trimmed a small piece of Peach Pie glimmer paper from the 2024-2026 In-Color Specialty Paper pack (#163771). Gotta love how it adds a wee bit of sparkle!
Anti-fussy cutters have NO fear, the sweet little accent 'toadstool' piece was easily cut from the same Toadstool Garden DSP (#164942).
Next, I'll let you in on a little secret........an easy way to add a 'POP' to your projects when working with bright colors, if you add a touch of black to your project, those colors will appear much more vibrant.
And that's just what I did on my card. I added a BLACK bordered pre-cut greeting/sentiment from the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack (#164862). And boy, that was the icing on the cake for me!!!! I LOVE IT!!

Speaking of 'pop' be sure to use your Stampin Dimensionals (#104430) under the toadstools and greeting. This creates added lift and dimension to those elements.
Last but not least, don't forget to 'embellish'!
My final touch was to add a small bow of Linen Thread (#104199) and then scattered a few
Transparent Adhesive Backed Dots  (#163432).
Mission accomplished, a bright and cheerfully fun card, ready to send for almost any occasion.
