Sweet Stampede April Blog Hop ~ CARD SKETCH

 Hello April and Welcome Spring

So happy to have you join us again for our monthly Sweet Stampede Blog Hop.
Our projects this month each began with this fun 'card sketch' below.

It's not uncommon for crafters to have soooo many supplies and pretty things to create with, that we sometimes have a hard time 'beginning' a project. "Where do I start?"
A card sketch makes for a great ignition switch that can ignite the flames of creativity
and get you started......and then it's all playtime after that.
You can follow a card sketch exactly as is OR switch it up as you create. For example, our card sketch this month is in a vertical orientation. However, I could have very simply viewed it in a horizontal position instead. The flagged banner shown on the sketch doesn't have to be a banner. It could very well be a ribbon and bow tied to one side. It's entirely up to YOUR interpretation. There are no rules when it comes to crafting, other than to enjoy yourself.
Speaking of which, I hope you enjoy my card and find some inspiration within our 'hop' this month.
Lets get to it.......
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been itching to play with the soft & pretty Wildflower Birthday Designer Series Paper.
And in the end, I think it paired perfectly with our card sketch.
This card is quite simple and literally came together in just minutes. Although, I still think it's a very pretty card. Handmade doesn't have to be complicated to be heartfelt!

Beautiful!!!! I love the simplistic beauty of this card.

As you can see, I pretty much stuck exactly to the card sketch. This beautiful paper and coordinating sheet of die-cuts included in the DSP pack made it so easy for me.

I started with a Basic White Thick card base, added a Pretty In Pink layer, that I first embossed with the Exposed Brick embossing folder.

Originally, I had planned on adding the three DSP strips to the card front. Although, after selecting the floral die-cut for my focal point, I felt the card need a little more gold to bring out the gold sprig accents in the die-cut piece.

So, I carefully trimmed three very narrow strips from the striped sheet of DSP and adhered to the bottom of each of the wide strip panels. They ended up not being as visible as I had hoped. But I like how it turned out.
I then adhered the three wide strip panels flat to the Pretty In Pink card front layer.

Next, I drooled over all the die cut pieces and trying to decide which beautiful coordinating pieces I wanted use. As you can see, I settled on the Blueberry Bushel w/polka dots strip and the large floral die-cut.

To replicate the card sketch, I cut a 'dove tail' into both side of the dotted strip and then cut that same strip in half in order for it to cover the width of the card front.

Added a 'swoosh' piece of the sparkly Iridescent Striped Ribbon to the backside of the large floral die-cut and adhered it to the center of the card front with dimensionals.

'Bling time', I added a few Low Profile Dots to compliment the pink and gold within the DSP.

The 'Happy Easter' greeting is from my favorite 'Greetings For all Mix & Match Ephemera Pack'. I was torn between the Easter greeting and the Happy Mother's Day. Both went perfectly. However, in the end I obviously chose Happy Easter.

Which would you choose?
OR

Of course, I had to continue the beauty into the inside of the card. Again, I chose one of the cut-a-part pieces from the DSP pack, adhered a small strip of the pink gingham paper along the left side, added it flat to the inside and called it done โœ”๐ŸŒบ

  2. Patti, this card is BEAUTIFUL!!! I have the stamp suite in my card, so I can make these. I think I'll choose the Mother's Day cards, since my Easter ones are already made.
