Sweet Stampede March Blog Hop~ 'Color Challege'

Welcome March,

Slainte`!!! It's finally March, one of my favorite months of the year.  Celebrating the Luck of the Irish and the predominance of all things green. Actually, in full transparency... I begin celebrating St Patrick's Month as early as the day after Valentine's Day, February 15th.
My Irish pride and Shenanigans are front and forward pretty much all year.

With a new month, comes a new edition of our Sweet Stampede Team Blog Hop.
This month we've designed our projects using a 'color challenge'. Each of our projects feature the Stampin' Up! color combination of Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and
Granny Apple Green.

Ahhhh, I absolutely LOVE these colors together!!!!!
So bright and cheerful and a sure sign that Springtime is right around the corner.
Here's hoping our creations spark some inspiration in you as well and that you'll give this beautiful color combination a try yourself.

Remember this is a Blog Hop, so you'll want to be sure to hop along to the next blog participant after you're done here. And continue to 'hop' along and enjoy all sorts of beautiful creations from my friends and fellow stampeders.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I first saw these three colors together, my mind immediately thought 'flowers'.
And therefore, I knew I wanted to use my absolute favorite stampset bundle from the
2024-25 Annual Catalog. The Layers of Beauty Stamp, Masks & Dies Bundle (#163519)

I used the stamp set and the magical layering masks (aka stencils) for my card. Though, I ended up not using the main die from the bundle on my card this time. But instead chose to share a 'new to me' technique. Lets see if you can spot the somewhat hidden surprise before it's revealed later on in this post. It's similar to the 'floating frame' technique, except different. Ha, I'm not sure it even has a name. Read on and then maybe you can think of a proper name for this card technique. Hahaha!

***can you see the technique yet?

Oh my word, doesn't this card scream SPRINGTIME?!

I started by stamping and coloring two identical main floral images on Thick Basic White Cardstock (#159229). Using all three colors from our color combo above and Blending Brushes (#153611), I easily colored both floral images using the layering masks from the bundle. It's incredible how quickly and easily the flowers almost come to life. These layering masks allow everyone to feel like an artist.

I then cut one of the floral images with the Perennial Postage Dies (#162607). Using a circle die I then cut out the center portion of the second floral image and then randomly cut that circle into small horizontal strips (about 1/4" and 1/2").
*No need to measure the width of your strips exactly, simply eyeball it.

I then adhered the postage die cut floral image at an angle onto the front of a Daffodil Delight cardstock base (#119683)

Now for the fun part..... I added Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430) to the back of some of the strips. Some strips I added a double thickness of  Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430) and a few strips I adhered completely flat with liquid adhesive.

I then adhered each of the strips directly on top of the card front image. Paying special attention to the exact placement. You want these strips to be placed on the exact same portion of the fully stamped image. Note that the different thicknesses of each strip should alternate randomly. Take a look below for a better visual....

Surprise reveal.........Do you love it?!!

See? It's sort of a multi-level, floating frame, partial image.

It was then time to add a few 'accent' pieces for more dimension. Using two different 'leaf' dies from the bundle, I cut a couple pieces from the Refreshed Beauty DSP (#166259) (last chance list) in the Granny Apple Green print and adhered them each somewhat strategically over the leaves on the card front.

You can see I also added a white butterfly from the Paper Butterfly Accents (#162612), embellished with a few Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels (#158987), that I colored with my Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends Marker (#154883)

Extending the butterfly theme a little further I added a couple of the fun Brushed Brass Butterfly Embellishments (#158136).

Finally, I added a simple 'Happy Birthday' greeting from the Greetings for All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack (#164862) *a favorite of mine and in my opinion, a MUST have!!!!

To finish the card completely, I carried over the theme to the inside of the card as well.
So here I've added a small 3/4" strip of the fun Daffodil Delight gingham pattern paper from the Floral Delight DSP pack (#164700), I adhered a small leftover flower image also from the Layers of Beauty stamp onto another Perennial Postage Die (#162607) piece cut from Basic White Cardstock (#159276)

    1. Awe, thank you soooo much Rubina. I can't take full credit for the coloring, as the masks from the bundle really do all the work. Lol!! The Layers of Beauty Bundle has been one of my all-time favorites from the annual catalog. Thank you again for your kind words.
